Applicability Checker Tool
âś… What the Tool CAN Do
The Applicability Checker is designed to provide preliminary screening and educational insight:
- Identify potentially applicable regulations based on general organizational criteria
- Filter 29 EU cybersecurity regulations using a logic-based matching system
- Provide preliminary screening to help you understand the regulatory landscape
- Show regulation summaries with links to official EUR-Lex sources
- Help you prepare for deeper compliance analysis with legal counsel
- Auto-detect criteria (beta) using AI analysis of your company domain
❌ What the Tool CANNOT Do
The tool has important limitations you must understand:
- Cannot provide legally binding compliance assessments or certifications
- Cannot replace legal counsel or professional compliance consultants
- Cannot account for all nuances, exceptions, transitional provisions, or edge cases
- Cannot consider your specific circumstances like contractual obligations or industry-specific rules
- Cannot reflect real-time changes to regulations or pending legislation
- Cannot guarantee completeness or accuracy of results
⚠️ Beta Software Status
This tool is currently in beta testing, which means:
- Active development: Frequent updates and improvements are ongoing
- May contain bugs: Errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete features may be present
- Best-effort interpretation: Filtering logic is based on our legal interpretation, not official guidance
- Limited coverage: 29 regulations covered (not exhaustive of all EU cyber law)
- High-level only: Provides general filtering, not article-by-article analysis
- National variations not covered: Does not account for country-specific implementations
- AI Scanner limitations: Beta feature with rate limits and preliminary detection only
🤖 AI System Transparency (EU AI Act Compliance)
Under the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation 2024/1689), we provide the following transparency disclosures:
AI-Powered Features: The "AI Scanner" feature uses Google's Gemini AI to analyze company domains and suggest criteria categorizations (such as company type, size, geographic presence, and business activities). The actual regulation filtering is performed by deterministic business logic based on these AI-suggested criteria.
System Classification: This AI system is classified as "limited risk" under the AI Act. It is an educational preliminary screening tool, not a high-risk decision-making system.
AI Limitations: AI-generated results are probabilistic and may hallucinate, misinterpret, or fabricate information. The system:
- Cannot guarantee accuracy of domain analysis
- May misclassify company types or business activities
- May suggest inapplicable regulations or miss applicable ones
- Relies on publicly available web data which may be outdated or incorrect
Human Oversight Required: All AI-generated suggestions must be reviewed, verified, and validated by qualified human professionals before any compliance decisions are made.
Always engage qualified legal counsel to determine actual regulatory applicability for your specific circumstances before making compliance decisions.
